Looking towards Home.

This Wrap is made with Melin Tregwynt fabric. A traditional Welsh doublecloth made of 100% lambswool. We have cut this fabulous cloth to drape as a wrap and be of a good size for a bed throw. It works beautifully as a knee blanket when folded in half. I was inspired to work out this sizing by a remark by a woman who wanted a blanket to fit around the shoulders of her Mother when she was sitting up in her chair. I've been practicing with my first sample and it's perfect for keeping cosy while watching Movies. Also I love the way it folds to fit on the arm of the sofa when not in use.

The lifestyle shot on the Beach is called 'Looking Towards Home' because this beach is my local, on the East coast of Ireland and across this stretch of sea is Wales where we source the fabric.

Maybe it's a kindred Celtic spirit that attracts me to the Welshness of this fabric. There is certainly a close geographical connection, being born about 10 miles from the border in northwest England. Then as a small child we lived in Minehead, just across the Bristol Channel from south Wales.

Shortly after, our family would have taken the car-ferry from Holyhead to go 'back-home' to Ireland. It helped, hearing them say: On a very clear day, we could still see Wales from Wicklow, and the child in me still believes you can.

The doublecloth weave used here, is a vintage design that has been in production at the Pembrokeshire mill since the late 1960's. It's called Knot Garden and the colourway of Bluestone is all the colours of the sea and sky to me. The double layered trim is made from a Linen Union called 'Dawn.'
